Continuing a Job I Truly Love And My Blessings

We are about to enter the holiday season. For me, and I hope for you, this is the season to reflect and count our blessings. The recent defeat of the effort to consolidate our district with Lowndes is high on my list of things for which to be thankful. However, what I am most thankful for is the opportunity I have been afforded to continue a job that I truly love. I am thankful for every opportunity I have to visit schools and interact with students and teachers. It makes my day just to see the wonderful smiling faces of our students as they go about their day. It is especially nice when they speak to me and call me by name. It warms my heart to walk into a classroom and observe a teacher working so hard with his/her students to ensure that they are receiving the best instruction possible.

We are well on our way to becoming a great school district. The work is not easy but we can’t slow down now. Our students need us to press on ever harder to continue the improvement we have experienced in recent years. With the failure to consolidate comes an ever greater mandate to do everything possible to provide a great education for our students.

I challenge those who were on the opposing side in the consolidation issue to now become involved in a positive way to help us do the job we need to do to provide the best for the children of this county. We welcome your help. It takes the entire community to be deeply involved in our schools for us as educators to do the very best we can do. Your help and involvement is critical to our success.

As you spend time with your families during the holiday season please remember to say a prayer of thanks for all the many blessings we are afforded because we live in a nation that supports our freedoms. Think about the military families who serve our nation so that you and I can continue to enjoy all the freedoms that we have as a result of their sacrifices.

I wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Remember that thanksgiving was never meant to be a single day but should be a lifelong practice.

Dr. C
