About This Blog
This is the official blog for Valdosta City Schools Superintendent, Dr. Bill Cason. He shares his insight, thoughts, leadership and announcements right here. We also encourage all students, teachers, parents, guardians, etc to post comments and keep the dialogue going here on the VCS Dr. Cason blog. We’re glad you stopped by. Consolidation is far from the solution to address issues with student performance in VCS. Parental involvement is the reason students are academically challenged. Education is the obligation of VCS and they are well equipped and work very hard to provide all the students in th system with a high quality education. Parenting should not be incorporated into daily lessons because students do not come to school teachable.
Behavior issues are a major problem in VCS. This is no fault of the falculty or staff. Parents must take charge of their children’s educational needs by being involved in academics. Parents should be more proactive rather than reactive. Expectations should be so set high by parents that they exceed school standard requirements. It is not time to blame anyone for the academic issues faced by the VCS. It is time for those with issues to research the root of the problem and work with the system to meet the best interest of the stuidents. Even if it means telling parents to improve on their jobs. Remember this is about the best interest of the children not political agendas.
I wish with all my heart that parents would become more involved with their students. Thanks for reading my blog.
Dr. C.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for speaking for those of us who feel we have no voice in this situation. For those of us who can not vote, because we work in the city and live in the county, we greatly appreciate your support against this “consolidation” (political agenda)!
Not allowing county residents to vote is wrong. We will continue to fight this effort.
